APC hails Lagosians for voting Sanwo-Olu despite ‘intimidation’ by LP, PDP

The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday congratulated party members and supporters in the state on the successful re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, assuring that the party and the governor would never disappoint them.

Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State chairman of APC, in his congratulatory statement after the March 18 elections, said the party would not relent in providing comfort for the people.

“I thank you all for believing in our party, the APC, as the only reliable and genuine party that has been bringing and will continue to bring the dividends of democracy to you all.

“I thank you for voting for the party that will continue to bring you progress, development, good and functional infrastructure, employment opportunities, security, and other essentials of life,” Mr Ojelabi said.

The APC chair said despite intimidation and subtle inducement from the opposition, the electorate stood its ground with the APC.

“I assure you that as you did not disappoint our party, the APC in Lagos State, through your massive votes last Saturday for the party’s flag bearer, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his team will never disappoint you in making life comfortable for all, and sundry.

“We have accepted the challenge thrown at us at the polls, and we have rolled up our sleeves to get cracking with a view to delivering on the existing good developmental strides in the state of aquatic splendour,” he said.

He urged party supporters to remain law-abiding citizens in all endeavours for peace and tranquility to continue to reign in the Centre of Excellence.

Mr Ojelabi advised party loyalists not to hesitate “to report anyone found to be an enemy of peace, progress, and good neighbourliness to the relevant security agencies.”

Mr Sanwo-Olu defeated 15 other contestants from various parties to win Saturday’s election.

He polled 762,134 votes to defeat his closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, who scored 312,329 votes in the election.

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Abdulazeez Adediran, garnered 62,449 votes to come third in the poll.
