A member of the Security and Intelligence Committee of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, has demanded the arrest and prosecution of those who sponsored an attack on the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani Musa.

According to him, some of Musa’s attackers have been arrested, he, therefore, appealed to security agencies to prosecute the suspects without delay.

Naija News reported on Sunday that former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode took to Twitter to allege that there was a plot to kill Musa.

He wrote: ”The horrendous attempt to kill Sen. Sani Musa, a dear friend & brother of mine, a leading member of the APC & one of the Directors in the Tinubu/Shettima PCC in his home this evening by 9 well-armed, bloodthirsty & violent assassins is despicable. I wholeheartedly condemn it.

”Thankfully some of the perpetrators have been apprehended by the security agencies and those that were behind this dastardly attempt to kill the Senator and his family shall be exposed and brought to justice.

”May God protect us all from evil and bloodthirsty men.”

Naija News learnt that Mumuni, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, also reacted to the attempt to kill Musa, saying there was an urgent need to fish out the sponsors and prosecute the suspects, so as to serve as a deterrent to others in the future.

He noted that “I was extremely shocked when I received the news of an attempted assassination of my brother in his House at Minna.

“He is my brother and close friend of 40 years. Luckily for him, he was not in Minna. The senator was in Abuja.

“I was informed that some people have been arrested, but this is not enough. Arrest is the first step. Security agencies should prosecute the suspects.

“The security agencies should go ahead to fish out those who sponsored them. This will serve as a deterrent to others with similar motives.

“We should not take politics to be a do-or-die affair. This assassination attempt is condemnable. This case should not be swept under the carpet.”
