Antony reveals he’s been watching Man Utd games & cheering team on this season

New Manchester United signing Antony has revealed that he has been watching the club’s games so far this season and cheering the team on from home even while contracted to Ajax.

The Brazil winger completed his £85m (€100m) move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day, bringing an end to one of the summer’s most protracted sagas and reuniting him with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

In recent weeks, Antony has skipped training sessions and delivered a bombshell interview last Friday in order to force through a move to United.

Speaking to the club’s website, the 22-year-old admitted that he has been keeping a close eye on the Red Devils’ season so far.

When asked if he watched United’s seismic win against rivals Liverpool in particular, Antony replied: “Of course I watched it. When United scored I celebrated as if I was a fan in the stands.

“I watched the game closely and attentively, what stood out was the desire, the unity of the team, the fire in their bellies, the desire to play. That’s what delighted me about the team. I absolutely watched the game, every minute of it and was really happy with the win and celebrated a lot.”

“I’ve been dreaming about [playing at Old Trafford], I’ve been losing sleep thinking about it, my head and heart were here. Erik knows, everyone at Manchester United knows about my desire to be here and wear the United shirt. I can’t wait to put my boots on and start playing and helping my teammates, I’m really looking forward to it.”

While Antony is not eligible to face Leicester on Thursday evening, he could make his United debut against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.
