Chuba Akpom has been nominated for the PFA’s Player of the Month Award for December.

Akpom was outstanding in December, scoring against Luton before hitting a hat-trick in the Boxing Day win against Wigan Athletic.

The former Arsenal striker won the award in November, and he’s in pole position to retain his gong.

The other nominees are Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City), Amad Diallo and Ross Stewart (Sunderland), Iliman Ndiaye and James McAtee (Sheffield United).

Akpom has scored 13 goals in 19 Championship matches for Middlesbrough this season.

He’s been linked with a move to Everton, Southampton, Leeds United and some clubs in Germany.

The striker’s contract with Middlesbrough will end in June, but the club could trigger the clause for the One-year extension.
