Adeleke Opens Up Lead Over Oyetola, Wins More Local Government Areas

Oyetola vs Adeleke: Over 10,000 PDP Members Defect To APC Ahead Of Osun Governorship Election

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Osun 2022 governorship election, Ademola Adeleke has taken an early lead in the results so far received.

As of press time, Adeleke had won more local government areas than the incumbent Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Oyetola.

Naija News reports Adeleke has so far won in Olorunda, Ede South, Orolu, Osogbo, Odo Otin and Ifelodun local government areas.

On his part, Oyetola recorded victories in Iwo and Ayedade local government areas.

A breakdown of the wins show that in Olorunda LGA, Adeleke polled 21, 350 votes while Oyetola was able to secure 18,709 votes.

In Ede South, Adeleke won with 19,438 votes while the incumbent governor had 5704.

Also in Orolu LGA, Adeleke polled 10,282 while Oyetola secured 9928 votes.

In Osogbo, the PDP candidate polled 30,401 votes, leaving the APC flag bearer with 22,952 votes.

Odo Otin LGA also went the way of the PDP as Adeleke got 14,003 votes while Oyetola polled 13,482.

For Ifelodun LGA, PDP’s Adeleke got 17,107 votes while Oyetola placed second with 16,068 votes.

The incumbent Governor and APC candidate won in Iwo LGA however with 17, 421 votes while Adeleke of the PDP secured 16,914 votes.

Oyetola also beat Adeleke in Ayedade LGA with 14,527 votes while the PDP candidate polled 13,380 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is getting ready to declare the final official results at its state collation centre.
