Abaribe Condemns People Describing Peter Obi’s Ambition As Igbo Presidency

The lawmaker representing Abia South senatorial district, Enyinnaya Abaribe on Wednesday condemned those who are referring to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi as ‘Igbo’ presidency.

The former minority leader lamented that some people are even linking Obi’s ambition to Biafra’s agitation.

Abaribe wondered why such persons have not described the presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress flagbearer, Bola Tinubu as a Yoruba ticket.

He also questioned them for not referring to the ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar as the Fulani ticket.

Abaribe while speaking at a virtual town hall meeting by Ikengaonline on Wednesday said such people are trying to de-market Obi ahead of the 2023 race.

The lawmaker said, “It’s unfortunate that Peter Obi’s emergence which is now a silver lining has come with complications. Tinubu has a presidential ticket, nobody is saying it’s a Yoruba ticket.

Atiku has a ticket, nobody is saying it’s a Fulani ticket. But Peter Obi got a ticket and everybody is shouting:’It’s the Igbo presidency. Some even try to link him with the Biafra agitation.

” Have they tried to associate Tinubu with the Oduduwa self-determination agitation? Or Atiku within the Fulani herdsmen menace or the banditry in the North?” he questioned.
