2023: You Copied Abiola’s Campaign Slogan Out Of Desperation

The spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye, has accused the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of plagiarising the manifesto and campaign slogan of the former President, Late MKO Abiola.

Naija News reports that Melaye made this known on Monday, hours after a PDP chieftain, Dele Momodu, had said that Tinubu’s manifesto is a copy and paste of the Abiola Hope ’93 manifesto mixed with President Muhammadu Buhari’s manifesto in 2015.

In a tweet via his Twitter page, Melaye said the former Governor of Lagos State was desperate to be like MKO Abiola by copying his style and campaign slogan used in the 1993 presidential election.

The former Kogi Senator said he was no longer worried about Tinubu’s age but the timeliness of his ideas, which he said were no longer in tune with present realities in the country.

Melaye described Tinubu’s manifesto as ‘renewed hopelessness’, saying the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was the right choice for Nigerians in the circumstance.

He wrote: “In desperation to be like Abiola, Tinubu is photocopying Abiola in all ramifications. Abiola did a Muslim Muslim ticket, and Tinubu is doing Muslim Muslim too. Abiola picked a Kanuri man as Vice President, and Tinubu too picked a Kanuri man too. Abiola’s slogan was Hope 93, and Tinubu’s own is Renewed Hope 2023.

“Actually Renewed Hopelessness. I’m not worried about the age of Tinubu but about the age of his ideas. Too archaic and out of tune with modern realities. Vote Atiku Abubakar.”
