2023: Kaduna PDP Guber Candidate, Ashiru Names His Running Mate

The Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2023 general elections, Alhaji Isa Ashiru, has confirmed Dr John Ayuba as his running mate.

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Shuaibu Gimi, the guber candidate said he arrived at picking Ayuba after several consultations with party stakeholders, particularly from the Southern Senatorial zone of the party.

Naija News understands that Ayuba had served as former Commissioner for Finance and Water resources during late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa and Governor Ramalan Yero’s era, respectively.

Ashiru’s running mate is currently the Chairman of the PDP stakeholders in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.

Ayuba’s portfolio showed he was also a university lecturer, seasoned banker and Commissioner for Finance.

Ashiru in the terse statement congratulated his running mate and called on all party members to support the decision and work for the success of the PDP during the 2023 general elections.

On his part, Ayuba appreciated his nomination and also pledged to work hard for the success and the unity of the party and Kaduna citizens.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA has criticised Kaduna State Government led by Nasir El-Rufai for sacking 2,357 teachers in the state.
The National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement released on Monday slammed the state government, describing the decision as vindictive, illegal and absolutely wicked.

The National President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Audu Amba, was among those fired for reportedly refusing to take the competency exam.

The compulsory test was put together by the Kaduna Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB).

HURIWA backed the Chairman of the State’s NUT, Ibrahim Dalhatu, who had previously described the dismissal of teachers as illegal.
