2023: Ganduje’s Former Aide, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai Joins Governorship Race

A former media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, has announced his decision to join the Kano governorship race.

In a statement he posted on his social media handles on Tuesday morning, Tanko-Yakasai disclosed that he would contest the governorship seat on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP.

The aspirant added that he would be holding a meeting on Friday to disclose his maneifesto and reveal his reason for joining the gubernatorial race.

He said: “In the name of Allah, there is no power except Allah. In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the one who gives power to whom he wishes, when he pleases, the most high Allah!

“I am happy to announce to my family and friends and the rest of the people of Kano state, the decision to run for governor of Kano state under the flag of PRP Nasara.

“By the grace of God, I will be holding a meeting next Friday, 6th May 2023, where I will give details of my reasons. May God chooses the best for Kano, this is our prayer, not only us. Praise be to God.”

Tanko-Yakasai, who was sacked in February 2021, had dumped the All Progressives Congress for the PRP in March 2022.

He accused the APC of betraying the trust of Nigerians, adding that members of the party do not see themselves as failures despite the hardship and economic woes of the country.

Tanko-Yakasai stated that he was sacked from his position, punished and betrayed for speaking against the failures of the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
